Day 12 Memory of School Days
School photos always produce a memory or two. Fraser Crescent Primary School in 1961. The days when teachers had over 40 pupils to teach. Reading and arithmetic dominated the syllabus. I loved both.
It was not compulsory to were the uniform – I think the school realised many prents could not afford to purchased expensive uniforms. It was a time most mothers sewed childrens clothes and knitted cardigans.
One year Mum knitted into the back of the stitch for my cardigan. I was so annoyed as this made it have a different pattern from regular knitting. It was not my favourite cardigan and I was so glad to grow out of it and it was gone! She thought it looked different, looked special. I wanted it to look the same as everyone elses.
