Challenge 18: Check out Genealogy Blogs

Family History Month challenge number 18 is to “Read a family history blog or start your own genealogy blog writing stories about individual ancestors or families”. Happy dance as I often read genealogy blogs and occasionally write about my ancestors so I have already started a blog.

Here are some Gene blogs to check out:

The list of genealogy blogs is in no particular order, just a few I selected because I follow so many.

How do I follow over 50 Genealogy Blogs?

Easy: with Feedly, the content aggregator I moved to this after Google closed Google Reader. You can run it on your desk top or suitable mobile devises. It is simple to follow your favourite or even not so favourite blogs. You can create folders to sort the blogs you have elected to follow, share them on social media via buffer, save to Evernote, copy a link, email, save to Pocket and loads more.

Feedly LogoFeedly according to Wikipedia is a news aggregator application for various Web browsers and mobile devices running iOS and Android, also available as a cloud-based service. It compiles news feeds from a variety of online sources for the user to customize and share with others.*

So Feedly makes it easy to scanning through by topic or your selected topic.  Plus you do not miss bloggers that are irregular, like me. Bloggers like this just sit in the feed and when they post Feedly shows the new posting. No need to remember to check back if they have posted.

    1. Jill, You are very welcome. I did a quick check of Inoreader. It seems to have similar features like the Evernote connections. Once you get used to one type it is hard to change to another. One different feature was the feed boost. I don’t think I have seen that on Feedly. Fran
